Title: mysql: unrecognized service

When I type "service mysql start" I get the above mentioned error message. Is something wrong? Is this why I can't send mail via webmail? Thanks in advance.

The service is called mysqld thats why you are receiving unrecognized service message.
Try service mysqld status to check if its running.
probably it is in fact running and your problem is something else.
