Title: failover server
Post by: sidney on July 20, 2001, 01:04:06 AM
Greeting,

I am using a cable modem to connect my server up to the internet. I would like to have a second server using a differnt data line that is connect to the internet to be a failover server in case the cable modem goes down in witch it seems to happen allot.

Can email be send to the other server Automatically ?
If so how would I set it up to do so.

Can web pages be setup the same way ?

How about domains ?

Thanks in advance

Good Morning,

I did not get anyone to respond to my question. I am hoping by resending the message some one would be kind enoff to help me out.

I need to setup a server that could be used for a failover server in case the primary server goes off line or the data line fails.
Is it possible to do this ?

The primary server would be connected to a cable modem
and the secondary server would be connect to a t1 line on a different network.

Could both of the run at the same time and be a back up for each one of them. I woulld like to run Email services and Web services. or primary email server and an secondary email server ?

How would all this tie together with just one domain register ?

Any help would be much Appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

just set up multiple dns listings in zoneedit or whatever you use
www.domain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
www.domain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
more.domain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
more.domain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
