What are the cheapest, most reliable sites to register new domains? I've used network solutions (never again), and register.com (expensive and greedy).
I know there are others, but would love your suggestions as to which I should go to. I need cheap pricing for a new domain, and the ability to manage the domain from their servers...
Thanks.

Hi John,
Well I own 20 to 30 domains with different registrars and recently I have been moving all of them to http://www.discountdomainregistry.com/
Reasons: ( Directly from their site)

I now have about 10 domains transfered to them and have had very good luck in new and transfered domains. My only complaint is that sometimes their network traffic is busy in the domain manager during peak hours and I find it sometime hard to connect but this has been only a minor problem so far.
Their manager lets you manage ALL aspects of your domain including nameservers etc.

PS: I do not work for this company nor receive any CASH from them... just a happy user thus far. Although I wish they would send me some cash
Also I do use their free domain redirection offered by domainredirection.com and so far real happy with that.... right now I have some ISPs charging me 5.00 monthly for domain aka's to some of my sites..... soon they will not as I get more transfered from internic and their archaic emial changing system!

I've just switched one domain to buydomains.com, it's only $16/yr & they do basic dns, which is all I wanted. So far it's been fine.

I tried them, and can't seem to edit my dns info to point the domain at my e-smith server...
I want to poing www.mydomain mail.mydomain etc. to my e-smith server to be then picked up by e-smith's virtual domain function to point it at an ibay...
What am I missing here?

You might want to look at dotster... I have used it for a couple of years and it seam to work just fine, I think its $15 to register a site, I also use their dns hosting package -- a simple web based administration for all alias, cname, mx, etc.. records since I don't run my own dns server.

I used www.verio.com for mine, they allow you to use their dns or point to someone else's. Because I have a dynamic ip address I had to use one of the dynamic dns services, which is working quite well...
