Title: Port Forwarding??
Post by: Robert Heaton on August 20, 2001, 02:30:31 PM
Hi!

I'm using e-smith 4.1.2 and need some help setting up port forwarding,
My e-smith server's local IP is 192.168.0.1

And would like to setup a NNTP proxy, so all requests on port 119 are simply forwarded to my ISP's news server, news.btinternet.com (194.73.73.116) I am using an ISDN connection, and my ISP assignes me an IP when I logon.

Any help is much apreciated,

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi, Just to let you know, I'm completely new to Port Forwarding, and have had NOTHING to do with it before, so if some nice person could tell me the exact commands to type in, I would be gratefull, I tried to use the contrib howto http://netsourced.com/servers/docs/ipportfw-howto.html but have had no luck.

Thanks again!
Rob

Of course it wouldn't work, because portforwarding is only for INTERNAL IP addresses.

Try using hostnames/addresses from the ES manager.
