Title: Outlook pop3 timeout by getting mails via modem?!

Hi,
i have a big problem recieving my mails over my modem from my e-smith server!
e.g. i have 60 new mails on the server outlook can get mail 1 to 30 and tha stops with the error: connection timed out (?). so iam not able to get all mails. After a 2nd try i get the same errormessage. So i can not get any more mail... can u hlep me?

I assume that the pop3 server is "out there " in 'net' land and your e-smith is connected via a modem to an ISP. If this is the case, then I also have the same problem but with web browsing as well. I have had to revert to using a LRP distro for gateway/firewall and port forward to the e-smith box. Have tried many ideas and fixes but all to no good.

No,
the server has an 1mbit ADSL line with a static ip and and a real domain.
I try to get my mails remote from the server with my laptop when i am in hongkong or london (the server is in germany). I never had this problem before (6 month) - now i get this timeout errors....????

can u help me please?!

have you done any network layer trouble shooting first ?
for instance, the ping time between your PC/laptop to the POP3 server in concern.
