There is a application wich is called IP-Traffic, this will show the size of the data up & downloaded over a selected NIC.
Send me an e-mail so i can send you the file, there is only one problem I forgot how i've installed it. If you're a more familiar with Linux you'll get it running.
The package works for me.

Download and install the following RPM's, the instalation might not work 100% but with these RPM's I've installed IPTRAF.
GCC:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/gcc-2.96-54.i386.rpm
Make:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/make-3.79.1-5.i386.rpm

No need to build!!!!
Just rpm -U iptraf-2.3.1-1.i386.rpm once you download the rpm from
ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/CharlieBrady/RPMS/i386-RH7.0/iptraf-2.3.1-1.i386.rpm
It works ok in 4.1.1 e-smith. Same Kernel in 4.1.2 so should stil be ok.
It is a great little program. It can be run in daemon mode, and logs in
/var/log/iptraf though they grow quickly!!!
Do a google search for the iptraf home page, there is a very good doc there on how to use it.

Sorry for the inconvinience but Michael K is right I've tried the RPM he mentioned on a new E-smith server and I works perfectly.
