Title: Can't see server in network
Post by: Viper on January 04, 2001, 04:21:07 PM
I can't find mij server on my network. I can ping the server, telnet the server and it works great as a gatway, but i can't browse my personal drive. The name and password are correct. It's not possible to make any mappings.

A remark, TThe webserver works perfectly, but the ftp server doesn't work. When using FTP it gives an error.

It could be that you can't see across a subnet, if you have your network segmented.  Or it could be that you are blocking certain traffic that allows the browsing of the share.

Don't know, just giving ideas based on what I have had problems with myself.

Ok, another thing, now that I read your second post...

You could have your local networks unassigned so that you are not able to browse to anything.  You have to enable yourself to be able to use those services.  The menu to do that with is 'local networks' and 'remote access' be sure to turn set the proper degree of security there and you should be able to access your services fine.

Hope that helps...
