Title: SSH access to E-Smith
Post by: Tim on September 21, 2001, 09:55:09 AM
Hi, I have been trying to connect to my e-smith server using ssh. It often comes back with an authentication error, and can't connect, or else just plain network unreachable. I think the network unreachable may be due to the uni firewall, but i don't understand the authentication error. Does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks, Tim

Who are you trying to log in as? Have you allowed administrative command line access over ssh and ssh using standard passwords from the e-smith-manager panel for remote access?

Otherwise ???????

make sure that you have allowed access either internal or external, whatever suits your needs via the e-smith manager. you don't mention what program you are using but I would reccommend putty, you can find it here http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
