Title: Services on ports > 1024
Post by: Jeroen Bruneel on September 27, 2001, 08:28:12 PM
Hello Guys,

Question for you I am running on a cable connection and my isp is blocking all ports below 1024 so if i want to run services on my system i need to change the ports these run on. I have no clue how to do this on linux. I wan't to run ftp, ssh, www and maybe imap.

Anybody have any ideas how to do this in e-smith ?

Regards jB.

Try this one:

Use Freesco as a router on another PC. (www.freesco.org)
Forward the ports you need to the e-smith gateway.
That's it.

If you want these services to be used o,nly inside the telenet network, you don't have to use the router. Ports are only blocked outside the telenet network.

Hi,

I have posted a message about this problem regarding port blocks by ISP's for services running on the E-Smith server.  The post is in the Can only connect via HTTPS.  If you want more help just email me at rangi@cybershed.net.
