Title: macintosh appletalk/samba stumper
Post by: Max Barry on October 06, 2001, 04:42:22 AM
I am trying to save the output from a SCSI scanner directly to a shared folder on an SME server. I have tried using DAVE which simulates just a standard netBIOS connection from the mac to the SME server. I can then see shared drives fine, copy, etc, but when I scan it crashes photoshop.

I have also tried Appletalk to connect, again I can see folders, maniuplate files, etc, but when I try to scan everything seems to go well but I get 0k files.

If anyone has found a workaround that would really help. I tried looking for known bugs on the Samba site but could not find anything applicable.

What are you using to scan? You don't mention whether it's an image editing program such as Photoshop or Paintshop, a colour correction program such as binuscan, or whether you're using a twain/plugin wrapper like MagicScan DA

I'd prefer to e-amil off list as there's the possability of this getting quite complicated.

Plus five years of Umax scanner and Mac-clone tech support should come in handy :)
