Title: Adding a dns suffix
Post by: paulham on October 13, 2001, 08:17:43 PM
I'm a Bigpond ADSL user and need to add a domain suffix to resolve.conf to get pop3 to work.  I can get windows clients to work but I want e-smith to handle email.
I've got the latest update 2 installed
I can send email smtp
but pop3 fetchmail complains it cannot find server
I hav even used the ip number for the server but i will not work properly!

I think in need to add
domain vic.bigpond.net.au
to resolve.conf
how do I do this using template?

Paul,

I have setup Bigpond ADSL for others before through ESSG with no issues about mail. However, I am in NSW and do not know if it's different in VIC. What e-mail server name are you attempting to use ?

Paul,

Have you tried just pop-server.bigpond.net.au ?

As far as I can tell, pop-server.vic.bigpond.net.au and pop-server.bigpond.net.au are one and the same.

Otherwise, ping the pop server and plug in the IP address instead.
