Title: cat /var/log/messages

Hi,

i am new user to e-Smith and i found soemthing strange and i dunno whether is it a normal situation or not

i try to cat/var/log/messages

i found this output:

Oct 16 07:17:48 hostname e-smit[4895] ...........................................................
........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

all with dots

may i know what happens ? isnt the var/log/messages should shows all the activity of the gateway and server, right ?

but y i get this output ?

is there any way i can view my server activities ?

Hi,
Don't know for sure, but fetchmail shows dots (.....) while retrieving e-mail.

is that mean it is a normal condition and i dont need to worry abt it ?

Hi again,

For all I know it is a normal condition. There is a contibuted file to surpress the fetchmail dots. Try to look for 'dotted' ' fetchmail'.
