Title: Permission problem I think.
Post by: Chris Woods on November 02, 2001, 11:19:52 PM
I've got my e-smith 4.12 to do everything except serve coffee and let me save from my Redhat 7.2 client.

When I log onto my Redhat 7.2 box as a user I cannot save or modify files on my samba shares.  My Windoze boxes don't have this problem.  Any input would be helpful.

tks.

Chris

When I ran Mandrake 8.1 the only user that could access the mounted shares on the e-smith box was root.  I couldn't do it as user richard.

Probably not a lot of help, but at least I've had a similar problem

I have no problems mounting my e-smith 5.0 samba shares on my mandrake 8.1 box for read/write access.

  mkdir dirname
  smbmount //hostname/username dirname

That's definately the format I am using.  I can mount the samba share I can read all directory's I just can't write to the samba server.
