Title: virtual domain problem
Post by: Sidney on November 07, 2001, 11:51:48 PM
Hello,

I am having a problem with a virtual domain.
when I try to connect to the web site it will to to the primary web site and not to the virtual domain web site.

This is what I have tryed so far.

1. I check to see what ibay the virtual domain is looking for.
   It was the correct ibay.

2. just for good measure I reselected the ibay and told SME to    modify it.

3. I restart the server.

This did not help any.
When I type the domain url address it will go to the primary domain web site.

I can type my www.myserver.com/ibay and get to the virtaul domain web page.
when I do this it will change from www.myserver.com/ibay to http://ip address/ibay

Why does it do that?

Thank you

You have to have a legitimate DNS entry for the virtual domain name. In other words, your ISP must have an entry in their DNS table that points "virtualdomain.com" to your IP address.

If you are doing this from outside of your network, you will need to register your virtual domain or noone out on the net can find it.
