Tape Drive's and SME V.5 compatibility ?'s

Will this drive work on the E-Smith SME V.5 server? (Below)

OnStream 30 Gigabyte internal tape drives

if it doesn't please give me a cheap alternative equal to 20gigs or more tape drive space.

you can e-mail me at-->  roadspill420@yahoo.com   <--- with the answer or just reply to this post.

Hey Doug,

Have a look at this :-

http://www.e-smith.nl/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2

Like a lot of others out there, I am terribly frustrated at the lack of OnStream support in ESSG and SME 5. However, although there are articles out there like the one above, I have not the experience, expertise or enough of an adventurous spirit (at least in this regard :) ) to try and rebuild a kernel to support it.

If there are any gurus out there willing to spare a moment to compile such a kernel and produce the corresponding how-to to install it, I'm sure there'll be lots of grateful souls out there (I'll be one of those at the front !! ).

Hi!

I've re-built the e-smith kernel with the tape drive support added, I've managed to format the tape, but I only get errors when I try to write to it,

I am working on it, I'll keep you posted.

Kind regards,
Rob.
