Hi Guys !!
I have a question about the upgrade process to 4.0.1 ??
I have been running e-smith for a while now (uptime 150days), but I have been running version 3.1, and I want to upgrade to a newer version, so I read the posts and found one that told how to do an upgrade from FTP so I tried it, below are the commands that he said to use:
FTPSITE=ftp://ftp.e-smith.com/pub/e-smith-4.0/updates/RPMS/noarch
rpm -Uvh $FTPSITE/e-smith-release-4.0.1.noarch.rpm
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event upgrade
Now all of these worked perfectly, I think ??
Here are my questions:
1. Did the upgrade work even though I ran it from ver 3.1, or do I have to upgrade to version 4.0 first ???
2. How can I tell that I'm at version 4.0.1 now, I don't have access to the box, I do most of my work through telnet ??
3. If I have to upgrade to ver 4.0 first, did I do anythiing bad to my e-smith box, and I can fix it

You need to upgrade to version 4.0 first.

You aren't at version 4.0.1 now. You are at some strange mix of 3.1 and 4.0.1.

Just upgrade to 4.0, then apply the 4.0.1 upgrade.
