Title: what is triggering dial up
Post by: paulham on November 13, 2001, 12:31:02 PM
I have a sme v5 private server and gateway setup for a small office network.

for the past day or so demand dialup is continually being triggered by one of the client machines.  Is there an easy way to work out which client is triggering the dialup apart from disconnecting each client.  Or more specifically what process on a client is triggering the dialup?

Paul

Could be Windoze machines trying to tell Uncle Bill all about the Wares they are holding....  #:-)

Norton's live update is a good cause.
Auto updates being run by windoze or by Adobe Acrobat, that kind of stuff...

diald (in v4.1.2) reports the packet that caused establishment of the connection, its source and destination IP addresses and port numbers. That will give some clues where to start looking.
