Title: Glibc problem
Post by: Mike on November 20, 2001, 06:38:57 AM
I get the following when I'm trying to run a program I downloaded:

GLIBC_2.2' not found

Now I know I have glibc 2.1 installed, but when I try to install a newer version, I get:

"only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM"

I don't know which version of Glibc I need to install onto my ESmith 4.0 machine. Any ideas?

Thanks

The package you downloaded is only installable with RPM v4 and e-smith uses RPM v3. ie, it is the installer program that is causing the problem, not the package itself.

You don't want to upgrade your version of RPM. Instead you should try and find a different rpm of glibc2.2 which uses RPM v3.
