Anyone know where I can get a copy of Twiggi in rpm format?
Thanks - jeff

Your best bet is to contact Darrell May: dmay_AT_netsourced.com. I have the RPM, but I was given it under a reseller agreement with them.

Doh. Scratch the rpm --- I have it as a zip. Very simple install though.

The package is licensed under the GPL, so you are free to pass it on.

Look in your mailbox
Have fum with it !

When I looked Darrell didn't have the RPMs on his site. The package may be licensed under GPL but is the integration with e-smith also GPL?
I assumed it wasn't but I may be wrong.

I received the Twiggi distro for SME from the www.myezserver.com resellers website. Due to the fact that I have to log in to get to that particular file, I didn't feel comfortable re-distributing it. At the top of the download page, it says very clearly the files are to be accessed only by current partners. In keeping with this spirit, I referred the original poster to Darrell May, so that he could either get the files from him directly, or arrange dealership status as I have. While the entire Twiggi project may be open source and GPL, the specific RPM made by DMC is not in wide distribution. I'm not sure why this is the case, but I'll respect it until I hear some kind of clarification.

Hi everyone. I have just returned from vacation and was unable to respond sooner to this thread.
Twiggi is offered in two versions, GPL and commercial.
In the spirit of open source we started a sourceforge project to share our base code under GPL. The open-source tarball release is available on our sourceforge project site:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/twiggi/
In the spirit of doing business and in trying to recover some of our ongoing development costs we offer an inexpensive commercial rpm version ($95.00 CAD or $65.00 USD). The commercial version includes installation support and a one year subscription to updates. For more complete twiggi information, please visit my website:
http://myEZserver.com
I would humbly request that the rpm version not be freely distributed and thank you for understanding and complying with my request.
Regards,
Darrell May

That's in direct contravention of the terms of the license under which you were able to use Twig, the pregenitor of Twiggy. The original authors of Twig allowed you to use, modify and redistribute Twig, but only on condition that you added no restrictions to what people could do with your modified version of the software. If you didn't like that license, you shouldn't have used Twig.
You could have written your own application from scratch.
Please read and understand the GPL, Darrell.
If anyone needs a copy of Twiggy, you'll find it in my contrib directory on ftp.e-smith.org.

Hi all,
Thanks for the RPM version of the Twiggi.
I notice that it is version 0.6.3 rather old as compared to the tar ball version 1.6.3.
Is there any Rpm version for the latest one? or perhaps a HowTo for the tar ball version for installation on an iBay would be helpful.
I have tried to install using the tar ball version but i get an empty page when i try to access index.php of twiggi??? what is happening?
Thanks

I started this post looking for the twiggi rpm.
I have just purchased the rpm from Darrell at Netsourced. I have been following the thread of GPL and commercial licenses, and in general, I support the gpl concept fully.
However, I also expect to use some of Darrell's time supporting this product and I have no problem with paying him for his time or expertise.
The debate is legitimate, but so is paying for service.

Hi,
I feel that paying for the support is fine but not the for the rpm version.
RPM basically consist of what the tar ball version has expect that it give us the ease of confiuration and installation.
If we have to pay for the support inorder to have the RPM version. It is like E-smith without the server-manager is free but if you want the server-manager then you got to pay for the support.
if i am not wrong whoever has the RPM version of Twiggi is free to distribute it right?
I think no one here will use E-smith and its application if we got to pay for the s/w we use. rite?

To all of you people.
The Twiggi RPM I've mailed I downloaded it from the early myezserver.com website so at that moment I believed this was a free version, a month later it wasn't free anymore.
SO I think when wants to buy software they have to be able to try it first, but in order to straighten things out I will not distribute it anymore.
P.S. I didn't mean to harm anyone
Best regarsd,
