Hi all,
I posted a topic here: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=12233.msg45968#msg45968
Many of you commented on this one, bit no 'real' solution was provided (if at all possible..).
If I understand correctly:
1. Do not install a second RDBMS if one is already provided.
2. There is a certain dependency towards MYSQL regarding the 'standard' features of SMEV5.
3. Postgresql is 'wanted' only by individuals, so no need for further investigation.
4. Zope is possible. You're on your own.
5. The basic structure of SMEV5 is effected too much by installing 'foreighn' software..
6. Look for alternatives wich are possible with the standerd SMEV5..
I think Zope is worthwhile to take a seriuous look at. The common small to medium enterprise wants flexible solutions that a Zope platform can provide. (with or without another RDBMS, depending on the application).
I just want to see how the 'rest' of the community thinks about:
A: Postgresql
B: Zope
ANY comment is welcome !
Maybe a word from Mitel ... :-) ??

1. No, there's no reason you can't have both MySQL and Postgres on the same machine.
2. Sort of--the default configuration of IMP uses MySQL for contacts, prefs, and session management. This can be changed to use postgres if you want, but you would be on your own.
3. No, I wouldn't say that, but instead that a general RDBMS server is outside the intended scope of the SME system.
4. As with most other additions and modifications, I'd think this is accurate.
5. Not necessarily, but it's certainly possible.
I don't know anything about Zope, so I don't have much of an opinion. I don't see any need to install Postgres as part of SME, as it seems to be beyond the intended application.

Thanks Dan!
