SME 5.0 with Update - SME Server V5.0 Update 3
Dec 7 18:43:12 mail smtpd[6161]: smtp connection from UNKNOWN@place.se(
193.xxx.xxx.xxx) MAIL FROM: RCPT TO: person@place.com>, allowed by line 152 of /etc/smtpd_check_rules
Dec 7 18:43:12 mail smtpd[6161]: Recipient
Dec 7 18:43:12 mail smtpd[6161]: EOF on client fd. At least they could say goodbye!
According to Dave Sill, this EOF-message isn't a qmail message, so where does it come from?
Doesn't anybody know?
Thanks in advance

That's smtpd (it says so right there!), which is part of
the obtuse-smtpd package.

Thanks for your reply Rich Lafferty
Has obtuse-smtpd been around from the first SME 5.0 or did it come from one of the servicepacks? I haven't had this problem until recently. At least I haven't noticed it.

Hi Micke,
I see the same messages here and suspect this to be a problem of the sending e-mail client.
For example, I can reproduce this with Netscape's 6.x or Mozilla's mail client but it's not doing it when sending from Outlook Express (not that I encourage to use that client due to it's security problems).
Most important, although the message looks a bit odd there should be no problem with the further delivery.

Michael

That may be so. I think the e-mail client the sender is using is Lotus Notes.

Are you sure about that? I don't think the actual messages are delivered at all.

At least with my (internal) tests, all messages were delivered.
