Earlier this week, I installed an SME V5 server at the head office of one of our subsiduary companies in Sydney. These guys are connected to our group head office in Melbourne via a router into the great wild blue yonder.
I added the Melbourne LAN to the list of local LAN on the Sydney server so that I could access the server and manage it from Melbourne. Back in Melbourne, I can send and retrieve email via the Sydney server. I can even access the "server-manager" and make changes. I can copy files to the Sydney server via ftp. I can log into the Sydney server via ssh. But what I can't do is access the ibays as windoze shares on the Sydney server.
I want to attach a logical drive to an ibay on the Sydney server so that I can update some database files.
Does anybody have any ideas about how I can accomplish this?
Oh! Both servers are set up on different domains.

Laurence,
Have a look at this posting and see if it helps.

I'm using it over dedicated circuits and still use the same method. One important thing that you have to remember to do is;
- Under the E-Smith Manager go to LOCAL NETWORKS
- Add the IP segments of your WAN that you want to have access to that E-Smith Box.
- Then you should be able to map a drive letter using the IP address and Ibay name.
It works for me. :-)

Thanks Craig,
I am fairly certain that is exactly what I did. Just to be certain, I am going to try it out again at work on Monday.
I can't help but feel that there is something else that I am missing.

Craig,
I tried what was suggested in the link that you privided and it worked. So for the record, this is what worked:-
net use f: \ip-address\ibay-name
Thanks
