Hi,
Is it possible to run a e-smith server with 2 network cards on the same hub, so when one network card fails the other will take thigs over from the other one.
A kind of raid 1 for network cards, maybe this is a stupid question but is was wondering if this could be done.

While I don't a definitive answer either way, Network cards, to my knowledge, tend to be one of the more reliable components of most server configurations.
This is due, I suspect, mostly due to the lack of moving parts and the relatively static nature of their configuration, hence the focus of Raid systems for HDDs and so forth.
If you are seriously worried about redundency, I'd suggest investing either in the traditional areas of RAID etc. or a complete backup server system.

D-Link has a 4 port NIC (DFE-570TX) which can be configured for load balancing or redundancy. It's based on a standard intel chipset. I've used the card in W2k Servers but not in Linux. E-mail D-Link for more info to see if this will do the job for you.

What you want is coupel the two niç's to one poort
Whit a few products in the highlevel card's is this posible
You talk then about twinning you cards to one. In a windows based config it's easy, first you install your twoo cards en then you install the virtuele driver this driver one's the only IP adres etc.
For Linux is this world not yet easy to install,but read a lot off documents on the site of the NIC's cards provider. I now that Dlink en Intel got good NIC's where you can twinning.
