I have set up e-smith 4.1.2 as server gateway, behind an isdn/router . From my
isp I have got 2 static ip-addresses, and netmask 255.255.255.252
1 static for the isdn/router and the other for e-smith.
My external gateway is set up with eth1 is set up with 62.242.xxx.xx0
netmask 255.255.255.252
External gateway (isdn) 62.242.xxx.xx1
I can ping both ip addresses from the internet , but from a client behind e-smith
i can only ping e-smith (192.168.1.1 and 62.242.xxx.xx0
where did I go wrong?

have you enabled IP routing on the ISDN router
-
Can you ping the .xx1 isdn gateway from the e-smith box? Does the internet test on e-smith work?
-
thanks for your reply
Yes, by setting the external ip address of the router to 62.242.xxx.xx1 it
automatically made a route to 62.242.xxx.xx0
-
thanks for your reply
No i cant ping the router and the test fails
the privat address of the router is 192.168.168.230 / 255.255.255.000, and if set up it can act as a DHCP server.I could set e-smith up as server only but then I
would not be behind a firewall

esmith is a firewall if your using 4.1.2 or higher.
