Title: Questions about upgrading SME server
Post by: Ryan Sutton on December 19, 2001, 11:20:00 PM
First, has anyone heard when we might see 5.1 final on the ftp site?

I have installed the rpm freeswan IPSEC on several SME 5.0 servers.  If I upgrade them to 5.1 (when available), is it likely the upgrade will wipe out the IPSEC since is not a service link VPN?  Same question for port forwarding.  If anyone has lost functionality after upgrading from 4.1.2 to 5.0, please share your experience.

Thanks

When I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 5.0, the port-forwarding rules in MySQL survived the upgrade, but obviously you'll need to re-install the ipportfw RPM.

The same applies to moving a 5.0 installation to new hardware via the web-based backup/restore option - the backup does NOT contain any additional RPM packages & they will have to be re-installed on the new box.
