Title: Overlay a form on printer
Post by: Steve Bush on December 20, 2001, 06:17:05 AM
Does anyone know if and how a binary file can be prepended to every print job sent to a specific printer.  This file will be a PCL overlay that is created from the GPL program located here:
http://www.hamil.demon.co.uk/pcl/
I have gone all the way through manually printing a text file on the overlay image.

I imagine it can be done in the /etc/printcap file, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

I would appreciate any help I can get on this...

I have completed a how-to for this.  It is located at:

Is you site AWOL or am I missing something,

Have tried out the routine on a HP1100 and a 2100 both connected directly to the parallel ports as noted in darrell's script.

Docs appear t obe missing the background, Windoze does the pages correctly using the same printers.  Any suggestions ??
