Title: Port Forwarding / DHCP problem
Post by: Ryan Sutton on December 20, 2001, 08:55:48 PM
I use Cox@home and have been using sme/e-smith with dhcp for several months.  This morning Cox changed my IP address to a totally different subnet (from excite@home to cox.net I believe).

My IP PortForwarding failed to do a remote access update when the IP address changed.  Is this a bug, or do I have to issue the remote access update everytime my IP address changes?  I ask, b/c I hear that the new Cox system will change IP addresses every 4 hours.  If this is true, IP Portforwarding will be useless.

If dyn dns is turned on, will IP Port Forwarding auto update the external IP?

Thanks for any input
