Title: DNS
Post by: DINCLAUX LAURENT on December 29, 2001, 06:16:38 AM
I would like my e-smith server (sm5) to resolve the real names  of my local network computers insted of pc-00001, pc00002   ...etc

Anyone knows how to do that ?

Yes.  You just define them in the "hostnames and addresses" web panel.  From that point on, the SME server will resolve forward and reverse with that name instead of the generic pc-xxxx name.

Unfortunately, this must be manually defined, and SME is not yet capable of dynamic DNS via DHCP (though I recall some talk of it).
