Title: SME gets address thru DHCP
Post by: Jeff C on January 07, 2002, 03:06:31 AM
Is there a way to configure an SME server to get its IP through another DHCP server on the local LAN?

I'm sure that it's possible.  Why not just give it a static IP.  It is a server, you should give it a static IP at the very least.

Normally we would give servers static IP.  In this case we are running a series of SME servers in a VMWare environment as test boxes.

We want to use the VMWare NAT to provide IP.  Strange, but it's a lab environment.

Well, in that case, you may want to see if anyone on the development list has wrote an RPM to to this.  Check the Contribs as well.

Have you tried the dedicated setting for cable modem access using the ethernet address option in the config. menu.

This is for cable modem access that is provided via DHCP.
