Title: What files are changed?
Post by: Bobby on January 09, 2002, 03:01:15 AM
How can I tell what files are modified when I install a new program?

I am installing InterScan on a client's machine, and it does not survive a re-boot.  I am guessing this is due to the template system overwriting the files Trend changes on install.  I need to know which files are changes so I can make new template fragments accordingly.

Any help would be appreciated, as this client is anxious to have their mail scanned.

There is a flag to rpm to get this information, but I don't think that's your problem--instead, I think the problem is that Interscan probably is set to run as a daemon at runlevel 3, not runlevel 7 (which e-smith/SME runs at).  To fix this, you'll need to make an appropriate symlink in /etc/init.d/rc7.d.

That sounds like it is indeed the problem.

I know it runs at 3, like you suggest.  That had not even occured to me.

Now to find out about symlinks. :}

Thanks Dan.

Symlinks were the go....thanks again.

Incoming mail is all scanned now.  Next project it to get the outgoing to also be scanned.
