Title: Web Server Problems
Post by: Matt White on February 02, 2001, 09:25:11 PM
I'm running a clean install of 4.1 Beta 4, and the web server doesn't seem to be working... I can access the admin console, but when I point a browser at http://192.168.1.1 (the e-smith box's IP address), it tells me that it can't display the page. Also, when I boot the box up, it says that the web server is [DISABLED]. I've been unsuccessful in finding any info on this, so I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how to enable the service so that I can publish some pages to it.
Thanks,
Matt

Please restrict discussions of the Beta series to the devinfo mailing list
Also, 4.1 release candidate 2 is now available with a few updates. Please test that version.
Thanks,
Gordon

I suggest that you make it clearer in the bulletin board system that beta inquiries are to be kept to the devinfo mailing list. This is not stated anywhere in the topic description.

Oops....my apologies. I just read the beta announcement and saw that all inquiries should be directed to devinfo. Sorry 'bout that.

We try :-) We put this on each and every Beta announcement, but yes we should probably also put something in the bulletin board headers.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a technology preview release. It is for developers and the curious only, for testing purposes. It should not be used to upgrade an existing system. It should not be used on any important system. We do not guarantee that anything at all works.
The current status of the 4.1beta X release can be found here . Please check this page before reporting any issues and only report issues to the developer mailing list .
See www.e-smith.org for the announcements of the various Betas and release candidates.
