Title: Can't see server via PPTP connection
Post by: Marco Ranieri on February 07, 2001, 07:38:11 AM
Hello. I installed beta3 of e-smith. I am trying the inbound PPTP connectivity. I can etsablish an inbound PPTP connection and authenticate sucessfully.

But when I click "My Network Places", then "Computers Near Me" on my Win2k box, I cannot see the server. I have made sure that I am logging on to the same workgroup, but I still cannot see anything. When connected, I can ping the server's NetBIOS name successfully.

Anybody have an idea? Thanks.

Try forcing a connection by running the Win2k command:

net view \netbios_name  -or-  net view \ip_address

This should report all e-smith samba shares visible.  Do net /? for help.
