Title: Serial com port sharing over internet
Post by: Sjoerd Ebben on February 04, 2002, 07:52:20 PM
Hi, is there a possibility for e-smith v5 to share my serial com1 port over the internet?
Is there a server for it?
I need it for someone across the state to access my device.

There's no preinstalled server for it as there's no defined standard for serial comms above the most basic hardware level settings.

If you could provide some details on what kind of device you've got hooked up to the comm port and/or the type of information you wish to 'serve', then maybe people might be able to point you in the right direction.

Regards,
Luke

Sorry, you're right!
I planned to hook up a ISDN central phone switch unit.
(ISDN Homevox)

The thing I actually thought about was to have a server wich provides a client all the signals coming out of the com port.
Like port forwarding, but then for serial com ports
