Title: Public FTP error
Post by: Antony on February 19, 2002, 02:08:44 AM
Hello,

I'm new in E-Smith 5.1.2 server and in Linux.

I've configured the server an it works fine. The only probleme i have for moment is to connect to the server via FTP.

Localy, inside the network it works but when outside i get this message while connecting with WS_FTP :
" !Receive error: Blocking call cancelled"
" !Connection failed mysite.com"

Of course, i have authorized in remote access :
FTP user account access:                           [Public]
FTP access limits:                                 [Normal usage]

I've created an iBay but i've the same problem.
Anyone can give me a help.
Best regards.

Hi,

What are you typing in to connect to your domain name or IP number?

If your have not registed your domain name then it wont work but if you type the External IP (the one that connects to the internet) and your ibay then it should work fine as i have been using this OK.

Also have you checked your ibay settings to allow everyone to view and various other ftp settings?

Hope this is of some help!

My domain name is registered. I've tried both IP or name and i get always the same message.

My ibays are well configured with everyone to view.

Off course every post help and thanks.

By the way, my server is behind a router. I've opened ports 20 and 21 in the router but is it the only one i've to open for FTP access ? Maybe the problem comes from there ?

Any suggestions ?

Best regards,
Antony.
