Title: Freeserve Anytime (UK)
Post by: David on February 21, 2002, 08:00:52 PM
Hello

I am trying to use my SME 5.1.2 server with Freeserve Anytime in the UK, but it won't logon to them. (Pay as you go Freeserve is no problem!)

I believe this has been discussed before but no one seems to have posted the answer.

If someone has got this working I would be very grateful to know how they did it.

Kind regards

David Frost.

I think your problem may be related to Freeserve network problems rather than e-smith. Until recently I used e-smith with Anytime, but my connection was handled by an ISDN router, even that had problems.

Only one of the three Anytime numbers that freeserve dole out worked for me, the others connect, but the server doesn't provide an IP address.

I gave up in the end and now pay an extra two quid a month to vispa internet (www.vispa.com) and everthing works like lightning. Much faster than freeserve ever was.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I successfully use FS-Anytime with my server (5.0)

Don't forget that, to use this service, it must be from the designated phone number, and the 'CLI' data must be sent, i.e. don't withhold the number.

Although you probably realise this already.
