Title: Adaptec Raid 2100 controllers
Post by: Gordon on February 27, 2002, 01:22:13 AM
Hi
Has anyone managed to get these to work on Mitel 5.1.3 server and if so what drive/source did it require?
TIA
Gordon

Gordon:

This is a great controller, but unsupported by Adaptec for Redhat 2.2.19. Somewhere on the RedHat site, there's a set of
"beta" drivers created by a list member, but he had numerous cautions about using them, so you are on your own. The board
works fine under SME 4.1.2, and is supported there by Adaptec.

Charlie Brady recently moved the adaptec 2400 driver (IDE raid) up to RH 2.2.19, and noted that it would be in his contrib
directory on ftp.e-smith.org. Of course, that driver won't work with the 2100S, but there may be some info there on converting
Adaptec raid drivers to SME 5.1.2, assuming you are handy with code.

Regards,

Tom

It's there now.

As far as I can tell from the Adaptec site the driver is the same. If it works with the 2100S be sure to let me know.

Unfortunately, they are not the same. The Adaptec driver for the 2400 for RH7 begins with the letters aar2400..., and the driver for the 2100S begins asr_rhat7. I do notice that both files claim to also contain the source code, so maybe the port to the later kernel is not too hard to accomplish (for anyone who understands how).

Regards,

Tom

The driver image files are named that way, but AFAICT, once copied to floppy, they both contain the same driver files. Let me know if you find otherwise.

Hi Charlie,

Have you had a go at converting the Adaptec 1200A Controller's driver for SME 5.1.2 ?
