Somebody can help me ?
I use a e-smith 5.1.2 with dhcp server.
The DHCP server run find but if I want to ping on a workstation netbios name the result is the IP of the internet connection.
It's not what I want.
because if I want to share a directory on a workstation I must use the real IP address !!!
I've try to add
ddns-update-style ad-hoc;
in dhcpd.conf
Than the dhcp server is going to be inactive.
Help me please !

Olivier,
Try your luck at http://www.minddigger.com
Maybe there you can explain it better in your more familair language so I might understand the problem better as what I just read... No offense though..

Ping uses DNS, not netbios, to resolve host names. If you want to map a particular DNS name to one of your Windows client machines, you can do that using the hosts panel of the manager. If, however, you want NetBIOS names to be automatically inserted into DNS, you will need to customise your system to support dynamicDNS updates.

You need to install dhcp-3 to have dyn update.
Quick HOWTO
rpm -Uvh
ftp://ftp.rpmfind.net/linux/rawhide/1.0/i386/RedHat/RPMS/dhcp-3.0-6.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh
http://www.mobilia.it/filippo/download/e-smith-dhcp-3.0-1.noarch.rpm
I didn't check recently, you may also find a newer dhcp-3 rawhide release.
I tested it only on SME 5.

I had also tested this solution.
But without the E-Smith corrective measure.
Now all is well.
Thank you very much for this solution.

Is your server name in the "Workgroup" setting correct? Correct workgroup?
