Title: Adaptec 1200 ATA RAID compatibility ??
Post by: Ray Mitchell on March 01, 2002, 05:22:02 AM
Dear All

I want to setup hardware based RAID1 and am wondering if the Adaptec 1200 AT RAID hard disk controller is compatible with sme server 5.1.2.

I have searched a couple of Linux hardware compatibility sites but could only find a model 2400 listed.
Does anyone know ??
Thanks
Ray Mitchell

Hi Ray,

Unfortunately, the 1200A which is based on a Highpoint 370A chip does not have a driver compiled for the kernel used in SME 5.1.2. I have contacted Highpoint previously in hopes of getting the Linux Source for the drivers to compile but was knocked back. Perhaps, as another forum reader suggested, if enough people asked for it, they might reconsider and release it (maybe hint that if we can't get it, we won't buy anymore Highpoint based controllers :-) ).

Thanks Kelvin for your feedback. Now I know I can't use a 1200 board.
