I am trying to install SMTP mail monitor (Sophos) on my e-smith 5.1 server. One of the requirement of the install if you are putting the Mail Monitor on the same machine is for them to have different port number. In order to do it, i have to change the port number where my SMTP server is listening in. Is this a good idea? How do you change the port number just in case? Thanks.

BE WARNED, if you get it to work and the Sophos part is actually the first one receiving mail from the outside you will then be an open relay. We set this up at work with Sophos first and then Sendmail and the Sophos SMTP scanner is an open relay and the only fix according to Sophos was to put Sendmail first and Sophos second.

We have a firewall that can take care of controlling mail relaying.
Thanks,
