Title: Time Server setup
Post by: Prabhjot Gill on February 20, 2001, 05:56:58 PM
Hi All,

I am trying to setup time server on my E-smith 4.1. If I add ip address of a time server, it accepts it but if I add host name of the time server, it gives error message that server name is not acceptable. I am just adding server name in the field. Any help will be appreciated.

Is it a bug? As it does not accept host name. I will appreciate any help.

Please report any bugs, in detail, to bugs@e-smith.com.

Host names are accepted -  for me at least.

I am trying the following host name in the field provided:

   timelord.uregina.ca

Is there anything I am missing?

Is your dns working? I.e. does typing nslookup timelord.uregina.ca from e-smith shell prompt give you 142.3.100.15?

Alternatively, does time.nrc.ca work?

Sergei,

Thanks for your help. First I tried time.nrc.ca and it worked and then I tried timelord, this time timelord also work.

I have no idea why it was not working before.
