Title: Stupid tape drives!
Post by: Daniel on March 20, 2002, 03:46:16 AM
My Travan sucked, as detailed in other posts here.

I have read all the posts on the IDE Travan drives and decided to  use a wangdat 3400 SCSI dds2 drive instead.

So I shutdown the server, replaced the drive with the nicer SCSI one.

As far a I know, e-smith has never used the AHA-1542 SCSI card which has been sitting in there since the beginning.

The card's BIOS happily reports the new drive at bootup.

e-smith now reports that st0, nst0, nht0 are all "no such device"!

How on earth to I make e-smith recognise the SCSI card and the tape device?
