Title: Procmail Recipes
Post by: Duncan on April 03, 2002, 08:41:25 AM
A question. I have been playing around with processing some emails that are sent to me on a regular basis ie word docs and zipped files using procmail.

I can get the attachments out of the e-mails and copy them to folders in my own home directory, but i cant get them outside to any where else on the system ie shared ibays (procmail wont allow changing of permissions etc).

I am assuming that this is a security feature built in to procmail to stop potential attacks on the system. I wonder if any procmail gurus out there could clarify this for me.

Another question. I am trying to find an application that will allow me to unzip .zip files on the SME server so i can process some zipped pricelists when they come thru and drop them into a folder. Basically i am just to lazy to manually do it.

Hi Duncan,

I am not a procmail guru but I also understand this to be a security feature that you can't store them outside your own directory.
Can you tell me how to extract such an attachment please?

As far as I see, there are rpms for unzip (and zip) out that you can use for the unzipping part.

Michael

Michael, i will clean things up a bit and post back here in the next few days.

If its not already installed you will need to get yourself a copy of metamail on the system.
