Hi
On a shared fax/phone line I've noticed that the fax server dials with someone on the line. Any ideas?

The simplest answer is a privacy adaptor. It looks like a line splitter but has an in ternal logic circuit and a pair of leds. When the line has been picked up by one user the other user gets an apparently dead line and cannot interupt the existing call.
If you are in the UK I can tell you where to buy them, they cost less than 5pounds.

Thanks
I'm in New Zealand (sorry about the cricket :-) If you can give me some brand names i'll see if I can source them. Probably won't help for people using different ring tones on the sames line (faxability we call it) as they use a detector/splitter already.
