Title: Power Management
Post by: Graham on April 05, 2002, 12:55:26 PM
Hi,

Can anyone comment on the following ?

I have set up an SME5 box for my students to practice HTML/FTP/WebDesign.

The classes are daytime only 3 or 4 times a week. On the mobo BIOS their are settings for Wake on LAN/PCI/IRQ and I can put the server to sleep using the power button. When someone prods LAN for data it wakes and that works fine.

Only thing is it never goes asleep by itself ? There is always a little HDD activity going on from time to time. I have set HDD time out to 10mins, Standby 20 mins and Suspend 40 mins.

Have I mis-understood PM ?

Has anyone successfully achieved this ?

Thanks !

Working with standard kernel,
mount noatime
and some bdflush customization.
I didn't try it myself, so I can't give more details, sorry.
