I have installed SME 5.1.2 on this machine using hardware RAID 1 configuration, and the server is working like a charm.
Does anyone know of a utility / method for suprvising the HW RAID set to monitor for any problems?

3ware raid controllers have an excellent browser-based remote monitering tool, with the ability to send an email if there's a problem. I'm not aware of any others that can do this. Hugh Fox wrote:

Tom,
Compaq has their Insight Manager software (it is a bit of overkill for my needs, but you get it for free when you buy a Proliant server). That has a number of linux clients, including one for kernel 2.2.16 .... shipped as an rpm
But when I try to install a pre-req rpm, cpqhealth ... it complains about:
This RPM is only supported on Red Hat Linux 7.0 systems.
error: execution of %pre scriptlet from cpqhealth-2.2.0-11 failed, exit status 1
error: skipping cpqhealth-2.2.0-11 install, %pre scriptlet failed rc 2
Do you know the way to fool that rpm to think SME 5.1.2 is a RedHat box?
I could then get a bit further along this process.

Hugh:
SME 5 is a RedHat box, just not RedHat 7.0 vanilla. The Mitel people, when the server was upgraded from Vers 4 to Vers 5, also upgraded the Linux kernel and some support software, so Vers 4.1.2 of the E-smith server *WILL* run with your software, but SME 5.1.2 *WILL NOT*, unless Compaq has a version for kernel 2.2.19.
Regards,
Tom
