Title: 5.1.2 VPN problems
Post by: Preben Østerlid on April 20, 2002, 01:00:14 AM
Im having a problem with my 5.1.2 public server/gateway.

When I try to access PPTP from my local lan (via the external ip adress) everything works like a charm, but when i try to access it from outside my own lan (the internet) I get nothing but an error saying that the port isn't ready.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA

Sounds like the problem may be with your ISP provider blocking ports.

If you are running a Firewall Program (ZoneAlarm etc..) you may need to add the host IP to your trusted local networks.  If you are running a firewall try turning it off for a minute and connect again.

No firewalls - and I am not aware that my ISP blocks anything but SMTP.

Maybe its the firewall....

Which ports are supposed to be visible from the outside?

What log-file should record the logon attempt or people bouncing off the firewall?

TIA
