I installed awstats a few weeks ago. After checking the admin mail this morning, I had over 150 emails and am continuing to receive more.
The email source:

Could not open /var/log/httpd/awstats/

Seems to me a good idea would be to:
"mkdir /var/log/httpd/awstats" at the bash command line.

I recently started getting this too (an e-mail every 5 minutes since yesterday), but I've had awstats running for nearly a year, and have never seen this.
It simpy said:
Could not open /var/log/httpd/awstats/ www.thegeekhouse.com
I've tried touching that filename, to see if it just couldn't write to that file, and I've tried makdir'ing that directory, both with no results.
