Hi
If those among us, who would be happy to share the drivers we have successfully built for various peices of hardware not automatically supported by the SME kernel (such as raid cards, nics, scsi cards, et al) would like to contact me, I will make space availible on my server for a download library of drivers. preferribly floppy images. What thinkest thow??

I think that a better place to share things is ftp.e-smith.org (which is mirrored in many places). The is an open invitation for any developer who wishes to share drivers or contrib modules - just send your stuff to support@e-smith.com and ask for a contrib directory to be set up for you. Even better, set up your contributions in a publicly visible i-bay, and enable anonymous rsync of that directory using my contrib module. Then we (and others if you wish) can use rsync to keep your contrib directory on ftp.e-smith.org up to date as you change it.

Hi Charlie,
Could tell a bit more about the rsync option you provided in your contrib area?
While trying to install it i get:
error: failed dependencies:
rsync >= 2.4.6-10 is needed by e-smith-rsyncd-0.0.1-03

Thanks Charlie,
My preferrance would be a slot at e-smith - however I think that holding drivers in different developers contrib dirs. is probably happening already. What i'm thinking of is a download bay (similar to Darrels) with a page that carrys clear labelling for each driver disk image, the contiributor and their disclaimer.
maybe a simple howto re: "accept dd". Even a year ago the boards were fairly uncluttered, one can only assume that the number of posts per day is going to keep increasing meaning hunting thru pages and pages of hits from a search and more postings by the unsuccesful. perhaps drivers could be kept in contrib folders and a link page put up on e-smith (or my site) and moderated?
