Title: Reserved Word PUBLIC ???
Post by: Graham on May 18, 2002, 10:22:25 PM
Hi !

Is "PUBLIC" a reserved word ?

I am trying to create a simple logon script including the following :-

net use P: \server\codata\public

I get error message saying it cant be done and trying to map manually
I get the same. When I try and create an ibay called PUBLIC I also get an
error message saying account already exists !!!

I can do anything else with net use including other folders all nice :)

Things is, all the company accounts are in a folder under PUBLIC which means I would have to change all the account workstations . . . . if the account software will let me now . . . it was Netware 5 before, now SME5 . . .

How to circumnavigate this ?

As far as i am aware public, common, and everyone are all words that get us into trouble
