Title: Command line and I-bays

I would like to access the various files on my E-smith through the command line.  If the files were say on the H drive and named database/files/mysql  what would I type in?

Also is there any way to set up folders directly on the server and not
in i-bays?

What exactly are you trying to do with the files?

The i-bays are stored on the e-smith in /home/e-smith/files/ibays/ if you want to access them from the console. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/commands/ is a nice listing of Linux commands and their DOS equivalents, if that's what you're looking for...

I guess I don't know how to access my command in a aformat similar to dos command lines so that I can untar mysql and work with the database on the server from the command line.

I am also looking to add the MYqsl database directly on the server and not on one of the subfiles i.e. cgi,files,html.  

Does that clarify?

Accessing the console is explained in the manual.  If that's not clear enough for you, please clarify exactly what your problem is when accessing the command line.

MySQL is already running on the SME server, you don't have to install it yourself.

Then maybe you  can give me some guidance on how to access mysql from my local box.  Or point me in the right direction on how to get stated on setting up my databases.  I would like to use a front end like.  phpmyadmin or mysql front end.  I have been struggling with this for awhile and would appreciate all the help you can procide.

How do I get to this on my computer.  I am a newbie at this and need a basic explanation and steps.   Please help.  You have been great so far.

Thanks Trevor, but how do I place it in a specific folder?  Do I just put it in thr Primary I-bay and then the files folder?  I am sure this is extremely easy, but I don't understand.

So I have downloaded the phpmyadmin, and it resides on a LAN windows system.

Now what?
